Biography of Nicolas Mahut

Nicolas Mahut is a French professional tennis player, who has been active in the sport since 2000. He is most well-known for his first-round match against American John Isner at the 2010 Wimbledon Championships, which set numerous records in the history of tennis. Mahut is most successful on grass and hard court surfaces.

Mahut's match against Isner lasted a record-breaking 11 hours and 5 minutes, resulting in a defeat for Mahut with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(7), 6-7(3), 68-70. This match achieved several notable records, including the highest number of points scored by a tennis player in a single match (502 points, while Isner scored 478 points), the highest number of serves performed by a player in a match (510 serves, including 103 aces and 21 double faults), and the highest number of games lost by a player in a single match (92 games). Mahut also holds the second-highest number of aces in a single match, with 103 aces (Isner holds the record with 112 aces).

Aside from his record-breaking match, Mahut has had other notable accomplishments in his career. In 1999, he won the Junior US Open doubles championship with Julien Benneteau. In 2000, Mahut won the Junior Australian Open doubles championship with Tommy Robredo and also claimed victory in the Junior Wimbledon singles championship, defeating Mario Ancic in three sets.

ATP Career

Throughout his career, Mahut has reached the finals of two ATP tournaments, both on grass in the summer of 2007, but was unable to secure a victory. He also reached three ATP doubles finals, winning three titles in that category. Mahut has also reached the semifinals of the US Open doubles championship twice, in 2004 and 2007, but was unsuccessful on both occasions.

In singles, Mahut has won seven out of 13 "challenger" finals that he has reached. He has established himself as a consistent player on the professional circuit.

Personal Life

Nicolas Mahut has three brothers, Dominique, Stefan, and Jean-Philippe, as well as a sister named Delphine. Outside of tennis, Mahut is a fan of Paris Saint-Germain football club.
