Early Life and Military Career
General Major. From the Moscow aristocracy, he received his education at the Land Noble Cadet Corps. On December 5, 1794, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Life Guards Izmaylovsky Regiment. In 1800, he became an adjutant to Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich and transferred to the Life Guards Horse Regiment.
Valour at Austerlitz and Heilsberg
In 1805, he distinguished himself at Austerlitz, capturing a standard from the 4th French Line Regiment and earning a Golden Sword. In 1807, he displayed bravery at Heilsberg and was awarded the Order of St. George, 4th Class, "for outstanding courage and bravery in battles against French troops on May 28 and 29 at Heilsberg and June 2 at Friedland."
Promotion to General Major and 1812 Campaign
Following his participation in the Battle of Friedland, he was promoted to colonel. In 1812, he commanded the spare squadron of the Life Guards Horse Regiment in the United Guards Cavalry Regiment attached to the 1st Infantry Corps. He fought against the French at Klyastitsy, Polotsk, and Chashniki, earning a promotion to general major on December 6, 1812.
Campaigns in 1813 and 1814
In 1813, he participated in battles at Lützen, Bautzen, Dresden, Kulm, and Leipzig. In 1814, he fought at Brienne, La Rothière, Fère-Champenoise, and the capture of Paris.
Post-War Service and Legacy
After the war, he served with Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich. He is buried in Strelna at the cemetery of the Court Church of the Savior-Transfiguration.
