Biography of Niobe
Niobe is a fictional character and one of the main heroes in the "Matrix" franchise. She appears in the second and third movies of the series, "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions." Niobe is also a prominent character in the video game "Enter the Matrix" and the online game "The Matrix Online."
Role in the Resistance
Niobe is a resident of Zion and, like the others in the city, she participates in the war against the Machines and the Matrix. Despite her secondary role in the movies, Niobe is an important member of the Resistance. She holds the position of captain and pilot of the ship "Logos," the smallest and most maneuverable vessel in the human fleet. Her crew consists of her first mate and weapons specialist, Ghost, and the operator, Sparks.
Skills and Accomplishments
Niobe is known as the most skilled pilot in all of Zion. She has demonstrated her talents multiple times in both the movies and the game. In "The Matrix Revolutions," she expertly maneuvers a large ship through a narrow, crowded passage in the mechanical tunnels. Niobe is also the only pilot who has successfully executed a 270-degree turn on a hovercraft, a maneuver that no one else has attempted.
Relationships and Personal Life
Niobe's relationship with Morpheus becomes strained due to his dedication to finding the One. They eventually part ways, and Niobe enters into a relationship with Commander Jason Locke. However, she never forgets her feelings for Morpheus, as reminded by Persephone and The Oracle. After the peace agreement between Neo and the Machines, Niobe and Morpheus are seen together in a strong embrace, indicating that their relationship has been rekindled.
Role in "Enter the Matrix" and "The Matrix Online"
In the game "Enter the Matrix," Niobe is one of the key characters. The story takes place parallel to the events of "The Matrix Reloaded" and begins after the short film "Final Flight of the Osiris." Niobe and Ghost receive a message from the crew of a recently destroyed ship within the Matrix, warning them of an approaching army of machines. Their mission becomes to gather all active ships in Zion for a coordinated defense. Throughout the game, Niobe and Ghost face various challenges, including encounters with agents and battles against the Machines.
In "The Matrix Online," Niobe plays a key role in one of the storylines. She participates in the testing of experimental chemicals designed to enhance the Agent programs. However, the test goes wrong, and Niobe's assistant, Anome, opens fire on her and other operatives. Niobe is trapped on a sealed floor, leading to a rescue operation by Ghost and the other operatives.
Despite her secondary role in the movies, Niobe's character is expanded upon in the additional materials, showcasing her bravery, skills, and contributions to the Resistance in the war against the Machines.
