Early Life and Career

Norifumi Abe (born September 7, 1975 - October 7, 2007)was a Japanese professional motorcycle racer. He began his career in 1994 with Yamaha, competing in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing championships from 1994 to 2006.

Grand Prix Success

Riding a Yamaha YZR500, Abe achieved significant success in the Grand Prix championships. His most notable achievements include:

1999: 2nd place overall in the 500cc class

2000: 3rd place overall in the 500cc class
2001: 6th place overall in the 500cc class
World Superbike参戦

In 2005 and 2006, Abe also competed in the World Superbike championship for Yamaha. His best results were three fourth-place finishes:

2005: Brno (Race 2)

2006: Valencia (Race 1 and Race 2)
Post-Racing Career

After retiring from racing in 2006, Abe returned to Japan and became involved in various official and commercial events. He also supported his own junior racing team, Team Norick Jun, and worked as a Yamaha test rider. In 2007, he participated in the Japanese Superbike championship on a Yamaha YZF-R1.

Tribute and Tragic Passing

Tragically, Abe passed away on October 7, 2007, at the age of 32. He was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident involving a truck that violated traffic laws and entered a highway. Abe's passing was mourned by the racing community and his fans around the world.
