The only exception was his appearance in five episodes of the mini-series "Prazdnik Zhizni" ("Celebration of Life"). However, the opportunity to work with renowned screenwriter Benedito Rui Barbosa drew him to the Brazilian series "Nadezhda" ("Hope"). To his surprise, Nuno was invited for auditions and chosen from among 60 candidates. Filming the series was enjoyable and easy, with Nuno appearing a couple of times a week and earning a monthly salary of $3000.

Challenges and Adventures

Working with the script proved to be the most challenging aspect for Nuno. Improvisation was not allowed on the set of "Globo," and Nuno had never memorized his theatrical lines verbatim. Additionally, the language barrier between Brazilians and Portuguese made communication difficult, as the latter speak faster and tend to swallow word endings. Nuno initially struggled with projecting his voice during his romantic scenes with the beautiful Maria Fernanda. As Jose Manuel's popularity increased, Nuno's schedule became grueling, filming from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. without weekends or holidays. The scorching temperatures on the "Prozhak" set, where the fictional city was built, reached 50 degrees Celsius. Exhausted and homesick, Nuno longed for his family, friends, and ex-girlfriend, who remained in Lisbon. He felt ashamed of every scene and dreaded the moment when the series would be broadcast in Europe, exposing him to potential humiliation.

Surfing and Love for Brazil

In Brazil, where Nuno had few friends and no interest in nightclubs, he sought solace in extreme sports. He skateboarded, rollerbladed, and even took up surfing. Unfortunately, during one of his surfing sessions, he injured his leg with his own board. Despite wearing a special orthopedic boot on set for a long time, he continued to pursue sports. However, Nuno struggled with weight gain, and only strict training and dieting kept him in shape (at a height of 178 cm, he weighs 75 kg). On one occasion, he gained eight kilos in just a month. After "Nadezhda" ended, Nuno embraced Brazil and realized his newfound love for the country. His first adventure took him to the Amazon to catch crocodiles and hunt piranhas. He then participated in the carnival in Salvador, the capital of the hot state of Bahia, where he danced samba with his co-stars from the series. In April, when rehearsals for a new theater production were scheduled to begin in Lisbon, Nuno received an offer to play the lead role in a short film called "Trubach Lopez." Currently, he is traveling across Brazil as part of the film's promotional campaign. Nuno has also adopted some of Brazil's superstitions and traditions, such as eating 12 raisins and making 12 wishes on New Year's Eve, one for each month of the coming year. Now, all he needs is to find new love.
