Early Life and Career
Oskars Kļava, a Latvian professional footballer, was born in Liepāja, Latvia. His journey began with his debut for Liepājas Metalurgs in 2002. As a defender, he quickly ascended through the ranks and made his first European club appearance against Austrian club Kärnten in the UEFA Cup 2002/03 qualification match.
Domestic and European Success
Throughout his career, Kļava played for various clubs in Latvia and Russia. In 2005, he scored his first goal in European competitions for Liepājas Metalurgs against Faroese club NSÍ Runavík in the UEFA Cup qualification. After a successful trial with Leeds United in England, he joined FC Anzhi Makhachkala in 2010 and made his Russian Premier League debut against CSKA Moscow.
International Career
Kļava's impressive domestic performances caught the attention of the Latvian national team. He was first called up to the Latvia U-21 team in 2002 and played a crucial role in the team's qualifying campaigns. His senior debut for Latvia came in 2005 against Liechtenstein in the FIFA World Cup 2006 qualification. In 2008, he scored his debut goal for Latvia in a 4-2 victory over Iceland in the UEFA Euro 2008 qualification tournament.
