Andrejs Rastorgujevs is a multifaceted Latvian athlete who has excelled in various sports, including biathlon, skiing, cycling, and triathlon.
Early Career in Biathlon and Skiing
Rastorgujevs began his biathlon training in Aluksne and Sigulda, partnering with fellow biathlete Andris Rastorgujevs. He competed in several junior world championships and European championships in both biathlon and summer biathlon, achieving top-20 finishes. Rastorgujevs also participated in cross-country skiing, winning and placing in several Latvian championships. He represented Latvia at the 2011 World Ski Championships, finishing 78th in the sprint event.
Debut in Biathlon World Cup and World Championships
In the 2012/13 season, Rastorgujevs made his debut in the IBU Cup, a second-tier biathlon competition. His first race was in Otepää, Estonia, where he finished 64th in the sprint and failed to finish the individual race. In the 2013 World Biathlon Championships, he placed 112th in the sprint and 21st in the relay.
Transition to Cycling and Triathlon
Following his failure to qualify for the 2014 Sochi Olympics in biathlon, Rastorgujevs shifted his focus to cycling and triathlon. He became a medalist at the European Winter Triathlon Championships and the Latvian Road Duathlon Championships. In addition, he won the SEB MTB cycling marathon in Cesis, Latvia.
Return to Biathlon and Olympic Participation
In the 2016/17 season, Rastorgujevs returned to biathlon. In the 2017/18 season, he became a regular competitor in the Biathlon World Cup. His breakthrough came in the pursuit event in Annecy, France, where he scored his first World Cup points by finishing 35th. This performance earned him a place on the Latvian team for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Outside of his athletic career, Rastorgujevs is a trained physiotherapist.
