Biography of Pablo Gabriel Cuevas

Pablo Gabriel Cuevas is a professional tennis player from Uruguay. He was born on January 1, 1986, in Concordia, Argentina. Cuevas comes from a family with a strong interest in sports, as his father Gabriel is a businessman and his mother Lucila is an accountant. His younger brother Martin is also a tennis player.

Tennis Career

Cuevas began playing tennis at the age of six and turned professional in 2004. Although he has had success in both singles and doubles, his greatest achievements have come in doubles competitions.

Rise to Success

In April 2008, Cuevas reached his first ATP tournament final in Houston, partnering with Marcel Granollers. However, they were defeated by the duo of Ernests Gulbis and Rainer Schuettler. His major breakthrough came in the same year at the French Open, where he surprised the tennis world by winning the men's doubles title. Cuevas and his partner, Luis Horna from Peru, defeated several strong pairs on their way to the final, including the top-ranked American pair, Bob and Mike Bryan.

Continued Success

In 2009, Cuevas won his second career title at the Vina del Mar tournament, partnering with Brian Dabul from Argentina. He also won his third title that year in Moscow, teaming up with Marcel Granollers. The following year, Cuevas and Granollers won the title in Sao Paulo and reached the final in Estoril.
