Early Life and Career

Panna Rittikrai was born in 1961 in Khon Kaen Province, Thailand. With an early fascination for martial arts films, he dreamed of working in the film industry. While attending college, he mastered numerous martial arts and acrobatics, forming a team of 20 stunt performers to experiment with filmmaking. He entered the Thai film industry in 1979 and began training actors, coordinating stunts, and working as a fight choreographer.

Breakthrough and Collaboration

Rittikrai's directorial debut came in 1984 with the action film "Gerd ma lui," which experienced limited success. He continued directing low-budget action films until fate brought him together with Panom Yeerum, later known as Tony Jaa. Their collaboration proved fruitful, with the release of "Nuk leng klong yao" in 2001, showcasing the ancient Muay Thai boxing technique. Rittikrai's most successful collaboration with Tony Jaa was the groundbreaking "Ong-Bak" (2003), where he served as choreographer and screenwriter.

"Ong-Bak" catapulted Rittikrai and Tony Jaa to international fame.
