Early Life and Education

Park Jung-min was born on March 24, 1987, in Cheongju, South Korea. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in Korea University's prestigious College of Humanities. However, he soon left his studies to pursue his dream of becoming a filmmaker. Park applied to the film production department but transferred to the acting department after completing his military service.

Acting Breakthrough

Park's first appearance on the big screen was in a short film in 2007. It was not until 2011 that he gained recognition for his role in the drama "Cold Night," which depicted the strained relationships within a group of high schoolers. He received a Best New Actor nomination at the Buil Film Awards for this performance.

Rise to Stardom

Park's career reached new heights in 2016 with his portrayal of the poet Yoon Dong-joo in the historical drama "Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet." The film was based on the life of Yoon, who was imprisoned during World War II and died in prison. Park received numerous prestigious film awards for his performance, including the Baeksang Arts Awards and Golden Cinema Festival.

Literary Pursuits

Beyond acting, Park has also established himself as a writer. He published a best-selling essay collection titled "Useful Man" in 2016. Since 2014, he has written a monthly column for the magazine Topclass, gaining a loyal readership.

Diversified Roles

Park expanded his acting range in subsequent years. In 2017, he played the lead role in a Korean adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet." He also showcased his musical talents in films such as "The World of Us," where he portrayed a gifted pianist with savant syndrome, and "Be Melodramatic," where he played a rapper. For the latter role, Park underwent rigorous training with professional rappers and wrote the film's rap lyrics.

Business Ventures

In 2019, Park opened a book cafe in Seoul. The following year, he founded his own publishing house, Muze Books, and personally edited the first book published by the company.

International Success

Park's breakout role on the international stage came in 2020 with the dystopian action film "Time to Hunt," which was acquired by Netflix. The film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and was the first South Korean film to screen in the festival's special section.

Recent Projects

In 2020, Park starred in the box office hit "Deliver Us from Evil," for which he won Best Supporting Actor awards at various film festivals. He has also made appearances in "One Win" (2021), "Smugglers" (2021), and "Miracle" (2021). Additionally, Park has ventured into directing and screenwriting with the four-episode drama "Unframed" (2021).
