Patsy Ramsey Biography
Patsy Ann Ramsey was born on December 29, 1956, in the small town of Gilbert, West Virginia. She was born to Nedra Ellen Ann Raymer-Po and Donald Ray Po. Patsy grew up in a family of five hundred people in Gilbert.

Education and Beauty Pageants
In 1975, Patsy graduated from Parkersburg High School and went on to attend West Virginia University in Morgantown. Three years later, in 1978, she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism. Patsy was known for her beauty and won the title of "Miss West Virginia" at the age of 21 in a state beauty pageant. Her younger sister, Pamela, also won the same title a few years later.

Marriage and Children
Patsy married John Ramsey on November 5, 1980. They had two children together. Their first child, a son named Burke, was born on January 27, 1987. Their second child, a daughter named JonBenét, was born on August 6, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1991, the family moved to Boulder, Colorado, where they lived a prosperous life.
Tragic Death and Controversies
Patsy had always encouraged her daughter to participate in beauty pageants, possibly influenced by her own experience as a beauty queen. On Christmas morning, Patsy found a ransom note claiming that her daughter had been kidnapped by a group of foreigners demanding a $118,000 ransom, which was the amount of Mr. Ramsey's work bonus. The Boulder police, with limited experience in murder investigations, took some time to search the house thoroughly. Eventually, they found JonBenét's body in the basement. Her underwear had blood stains, which led to the identification of the perpetrator's DNA.
After the murder, Patsy and John faced suspicion and accusations regarding their involvement in the crime. For the next ten years, they fought to defend themselves, maintaining that their daughter was killed by an unknown intruder. As of 2010, the killer had not been caught.
Clearing of Accusations and Death
On July 9, 2008, almost twelve years after the murder, the charges against John and Patsy Ramsey were dropped based on new DNA analysis that was not available at the time of the crime. The Boulder District Attorney's Office issued official apologies to the Ramseys, but Patsy did not live to see them. She passed away from ovarian cancer on June 24, 2006, at the age of 49. She was buried next to her daughter.
Legacy
In 2000, a television mini-series titled "Perfect Murder, Perfect Town" was released, based on the dramatic story of the Ramsey family. Actress Marg Helgenberger portrayed Patsy Ramsey in the series.
