Patty Mills Biography
Australian professional basketball player Patrick Mills has played for various Australian teams, the Australian national team, and a team in China. However, it was his experience playing in the NBA that brought him true fame. Mills became the first Indigenous Australian in the NBA and proved to be a skilled player worthy of his home country's recognition.

Mills, currently playing for the San Antonio Spurs, is an Australian professional basketball player. He is one of the first Indigenous Australians to make it to the NBA and one of the youngest players in the history of the Australian national team. He first encountered basketball at the age of four when his parents organized a team of Indigenous Australians called "The Shadows." As a student at a college in Canberra, Patrick actively participated in various sports, including basketball, Australian football, and track and field events. He briefly played for the NBL team, the Canberra Cannons, as a boy on the run. During this time, he became close friends with David Patrick, a player for the Cannons, who would later play a significant role in Mills' career.

At the age of 15, Mills participated in the national youth championship. A year later, he received a scholarship from the Australian Institute of Sport. Mills showcased his skill at the Australian Olympic Youth Festival in 2005, which is considered one of the main pathways to a successful sports career. In November 2006, Mills joined the team at Saint Mary's College of California. Other American universities also showed interest in him, but his final decision was influenced by the charisma of Randy Bennett, the head coach of the local team, and the presence of his good friend David Patrick as an assistant coach.

Mills made a loud statement on November 20, 2007, when he scored 37 points in a match against the Oregon team. In April 2009, Mills entered the NBA draft and was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round. Unfortunately, during training camp, he suffered a severe leg injury, which required surgery and a lengthy recovery period. Mills returned to the court in December and was assigned to the D-League's Idaho Stampede. He showed impressive results there and was occasionally used in games for the Blazers.

In the 2010-2011 season, Mills and his teammate Rudy Fernandez invented a gesture that became incredibly popular. They formed an "eye glasses" sign with their fingers in front of their faces to symbolize scoring. The gesture started as a friendly joke when Fernandez struggled with three-point shots, and Mills suggested he visit an optometrist. Fernandez responded by making the glasses sign and saying it was all he needed. The gesture was later adopted by their teammates and other NBA players.
On August 29, 2011, Mills joined the Melbourne Tigers and later transferred to the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, a Chinese team, after nine games. He played 12 games with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers before signing a contract with the San Antonio Spurs on March 27, 2012. Mills remains a part of the Spurs to this day.
Mills met Alyssa Levesque in college, where she also played for the university's basketball team. Their relationship continues, although there is no talk of engagement or marriage at this time.
