Early Life and Career

Born in Riga, Paul Butkevich completed his secondary education before attending a vocational technical school (PTU) and working as an automatic telephone communication regulator at the VEF factory. He also pursued acting at the studio of the J. Rainis Art Theater. Later on, he became the leader of the artistic amateur collective at the VEF factory. Butkevich started his acting career at the age of 17 and landed his first major role as Imanth Veide in Armida Neretniece's film "Hippocrates' Oath." Since then, he appeared in multiple films every year.

Butkevich portrayed a range of characters throughout his career, often depicting strong and tough individuals capable of daring actions, which didn't always lead to positive outcomes.
