Biography of Paul (Fred) Sprogue (Rebell)
Early Life and EscapePaul Sprogue, later known as Fred Rebell, was born in 1886 in Riga. As a pacifist, he chose to leave his homeland instead of serving in the Tsar's army. After a series of incredible adventures, he made his way to Antwerp through Hamburg. There, he acquired false documents under the name Fred Rebell and quickly found work as a sailor on a German cargo steamer.
