Biography of Paulina Porizkova

Paulina Porizkova, born in 1965 in Prostejov, Czechoslovakia, is an actress and model. Her parents left the country for Sweden in 1968 due to political reasons, leaving Paulina in the care of her grandmother with the hope of bringing her back later. However, it was not easy to leave the socialist country as the Iron Curtain prevented its citizens from leaving easily. Eventually, her mother secretly returned for her but was detained by the authorities. It took seven years and the assistance of prominent Swedish politician Olof Palme for Paulina's family to reunite and escape socialist captivity.

However, Paulina grew up to be a true beauty, and one of her friends, who was aspiring to become a photographer, noticed her beauty and modeling potential. This discovery led Paulina to start her rise in the fashion industry in Paris, which was a gift for both her and her struggling family.
