Early Life and Education
Pavel Yakovlevich Doroshenko was born in Druzhkovka, Ukraine. Little is known about his early life and education.
Military Career
Joining the Soviet Air ForceDoroshenko joined the Soviet Air Force and trained as a fighter pilot. He rose through the ranks and became a senior lieutenant.
World War II
During World War II, Doroshenko served as deputy commander of a squadron in the 955th assault aviation regiment. He flew 93 combat missions and 17 reconnaissance flights.

Doroshenko's accomplishments during the war included:Destroying 3 enemy aircraft
Eliminating 6 tanks
Destroying 63 vehicles
Taking out 17 artillery pieces
Neutralizing 47 supply wagons

Heroic Acts
On October 27, 1944, while on a mission in Estonia, Doroshenko's aircraft was shot down. Despite sustaining severe injuries, he fought back against enemy fighters until his plane crashed.
Recognition
For his bravery and heroism, Doroshenko was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on July 1, 1944.
Legacy
CommemorationIn Druzhkovka, a street and school were named after Doroshenko.
A memorial plaque was installed on the school building.
A bust of Doroshenko was erected in the town of Raiskoye.
