Peter Penz: Austrian Luger and Soldier
Early Career and Junior MedalsPeter Penz has represented Austria in luge since 2003. In his junior career, he earned a gold medal in 2004 and a bronze medal in 2002 at the World Junior Championships.
World Championship Success
Penz's success at the World Championships has been marked by two medals in the mixed team relay event. He won bronze in Innsbruck in 2007 and silver in Lake Placid two years later. He also achieved a fifth-place finish at the 2008 Championships in Oberhof.
European Championships and World Cup
Despite regularly participating in the European Championships, Penz has yet to reach the podium, with his best result being a fifth-place finish in Sigulda in 2010. In the World Cup, his most notable performance came in the 2008-2009 season, where he finished sixth overall. He also achieved a third-place finish in the Junior World Cup in the 2002-2003 season.
Olympic Debut
In 2014, Penz made his Olympic debut at the Sochi Games alongside Georg Fischler. The duo finished 19th in the men's doubles event.
Military Service and Personal Life
Penz serves as a soldier in the Austrian army. He resides in Telfes im Stubai and enjoys playing football and table tennis in his free time.
