Biography of Phil Collins

Phil Collins is a musician, composer, and vocalist best known as a member of the band 'Genesis'. He studied at a school of dramatic arts and worked briefly as an actor. His musical career began in 1971 when he responded to an advertisement in the newspaper and met the relatively unknown musicians of the band "Genesis" who were in search of a drummer. Phil, who had been passionate about percussion since the age of twelve, was accepted into the group. Soon after, the band became widely recognized.

In 1974, the vocalist Peter Gabriel left "Genesis". Despite numerous candidates, they struggled to find a worthy replacement, leading Phil Collins to assume the role of the group's vocalist. (He also participated in the jazz project "Brand X"). Shortly after, "Genesis" gained popularity in England and went on to conquer the United States in the late 1970s.

In 1981, Phil Collins released his first solo album, "Face Value". From then on, alongside his work with the band, he regularly released his own albums, including "Hello, I Must Be Going" (1982), "No Jacket Required" (1985), "...But Seriously" (1989), "Serious Hits...Live!" (1990), "Both Sides" (1993), "Dance Into The Light" (1996), "Hits" (1998), "Tarzan" (soundtrack for the animated film, 1999), and "A Hot Night In Paris" (1999).

In addition to his involvement in film projects, Phil Collins has also acted in minor roles and served as a producer for the full-length animated film "Tarzan" produced by Disney. He received an Academy Award for his music in this film in March 2000. Phil Collins is also known for his charitable work, which earned him the title of Lieutenant and the Order of the British Empire.


In 2011, Phil announced the end of his music career in order to fully dedicate himself to his family. However, in the fall of 2016, he announced his return to the stage and held several concerts in London, Cologne, and Paris as part of a concert tour in the summer of 2017. Today, he continues his creative endeavors.
