Phil Wizard: Canadian B-Boy Extraordinaire

Phil Wizard, a Canadian b-boy, has made a name for himself in the competitive world of breaking. His impressive achievements include:

Early Life

Born in Toronto to Korean parents, Phil Wizard grew up in Vancouver, where he attended Magee Secondary School. Known for his dedication, he often skipped bathroom breaks to practice new moves in the hallways. After briefly attending university, he decided to pursue his passion for b-boying full-time.

Career Beginnings

Phil Wizard's love for b-boying sparked in 2009 when he witnessed street performances by the Now or Never (N.O.N.) crew in downtown Vancouver. His stage name, however, originated by chance. After repeated introductions as "Phil from the Wizards," people eventually shortened it to "Phil Wizard."

National and International Breakthroughs

In 2015, Phil Wizard competed in the inaugural Red Bull BC One Canadian National Championship, seeking a spot in the North American qualifier leading to the world championship. While he fell short in the final to Fleo of Montreal, his determination remained unshaken.

His breakthrough came in 2022 at the WDSF World Breaking Championships in Seoul, South Korea, where he emerged victorious from a field of over 250 competitors to claim the world championship title. He followed this up with gold at the 2023 WDSF Pan American Breaking Championships in Santiago, Chile, and silver at the 2023 WDSF World Breaking Championships.

Olympic Glory

In 2024, Phil Wizard made history by winning the gold medal at the inaugural Olympic Games breaking competition. His exceptional skills and dedication brought b-boying onto a global stage.

Personal Life

Phil Wizard resides in Vancouver, British Columbia.
