Childhood and Early Life

Pio Marmaï was born on July 13, 1984, in Strasbourg, France. Growing up in a creative environment, his French mother was a costume designer and his Italian father was a set designer. Surrounded by the theatrical world, Marmaï pursued acting, studying at renowned schools such as Scuola Comedia dell'Arte in Italy, Les Enfants Terribles, and the National Centre of Drama in Saint-Étienne.

Career Beginnings: Theatre and Film

Marmaï's career began on stage. He gained early recognition in 2006-2007 with his performances in "Hard Times" and "Andrea del Sarto." His film debut came in 2008, and he received a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actor in "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life."

Film Breakthrough and Critical Acclaim

In 2010, Marmaï earned another César nomination for his lead role in the independent film "Love Like Poison." He went on to star in the comedy "Polisse" in 2011, portraying a couple grappling with the challenges of parenthood. That same year, he appeared in the acclaimed drama "Delicacy." Marmaï received his third César nomination for his leading performance in "A Gentle Woman."
