Early Career

Piercarlo Ghinzani made his Formula One debut on May 17, 1981, with the small Osella team, where he would spend the majority of his career.

First Full Season

Ghinzani's first full Formula One season came in 1983 with Osella. Despite failing to score points, he continued to race.

Breakthrough Season

1984 marked Ghinzani's most successful season. He finished fifth in Dallas despite suffering serious burns in the South African Grand Prix.

Toleman and Return to Osella

Ghinzani left Osella midway through the 1985 season to join Toleman, partnering with fellow Italian Teo Fabi. However, he failed to score any points. The following season, he returned to Osella.

Ligier and Zakspeed

Ghinzani signed with Ligier for the 1987 season, but once again failed to score points. In 1988, he joined Zakspeed, before returning to Osella for his final Formula One season.

Post-Formula One Career

After retiring from Formula One, Ghinzani founded his own team in Italian Formula Three. In 2000, his team debuted in the Italian Formula 3000 championship.
