Robert Norman "Rob" Reiner was born on March 6, 1947, in the Bronx, New York City. He began his acting career at the age of 13 in the television series "All in the Family." When his family moved to Los Angeles, he enrolled in the University of California, Los Angeles. Reiner's breakthrough role came as Michael "Meathead" Stivic in the sitcom.

Directing and Producing Success

Reiner's greatest success came as a director in the 1980s and 1990s. Notable works during this period include "The Princess Bride," "Stand By Me," and "This Is Spinal Tap." He also founded Castle Rock Entertainment, which produced hits such as "When Harry Met Sally," "Misery," and "A Few Good Men."

Subsequent Films and Acting Roles

Despite critical acclaim, subsequent films like "Alex and Emma" and "Rumor Has It" failed to meet expectations. In 2007, he released "The Bucket List," a comedy-drama starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. Reiner has also appeared in numerous cameo roles in films including "Sleepless in Seattle," "Bullets Over Broadway," and "The First Wives Club."
