Robbie Kruse, Australian Football Prodigy
Early Career and BreakthroughBorn in Brisbane, Australia, Robbie Kruse began his professional career with the local club Brisbane Roar. He made his A-League debut on his 19th birthday, scoring in a match against Wellington Phoenix. His partnership with teammate Michael Zullo formed a formidable attacking duo for the Roar.
Melbourne Victory and Bundesliga Debut
In 2009, Kruse joined Melbourne Victory. He scored his first goal for the club against Gold Coast United and went on to help them finish second in the league standings. In 2011, he signed a three-year contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf in Germany's 2. Bundesliga. He made his debut in July and helped the club gain promotion to the Bundesliga.
Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen
In 2013, Kruse moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach. He scored two goals in his debut against Mainz 05 but suffered an injury in December. In April 2013, he signed for Bayer Leverkusen. He made his debut against Borussia Mönchengladbach and scored a brace in a match against Mainz 05.
Loan to Stuttgart and China
In 2015, Kruse went on loan to Stuttgart, making his debut against Hertha Berlin. After his loan ended, he returned to Bayer Leverkusen. In early 2017, he moved to Chinese Super League club Liaoning Whowin.
Return to Germany and Bochum
In July 2017, Kruse returned to Germany to play for VfL Bochum. He scored his first goal for the club against Darmstadt 98.
International Career
Kruse made his international debut for Australia in 2011. He played in the 2011 and 2015 Asian Cups, winning silver and gold medals, respectively. He also participated in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.
