Robert Amirkhanyan was an esteemed Armenian composer and public figure who left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of his country.
Early Life and Education
Robert Amirkhanyan was born in Armenia. He pursued his passion for music at the Yerevan State Conservatory, where he studied composition from 1964 to 1969.
Professional Career
After graduating from the conservatory, Amirkhanyan worked as a music editor for Armenian Radio from 1969 to 1972. He also began teaching at the Yerevan State Conservatory in 1969.
Leadership in Music and Public Affairs
From 1991 to 2013, Amirkhanyan served as the chairman of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Armenia. He was an influential figure in shaping Armenian music policy and fostering artistic growth.
Additionally, Amirkhanyan represented the arts in politics. He served as a member of the Armenian parliament from 1999 to 2003, where he contributed to cultural and youth affairs.
