Biography of Robert Davi

Robert Davi, an actor known for his roles as villains, was born in Astoria, New York, and raised on Long Island in a working-class family.
A Vocal Discovery

In school, Davi had a passion for singing and would showcase his vocal talents wherever he could. One day, as he was singing his heart out in the school locker room, a passing nun was so impressed by his voice that she convinced his parents to send him to an opera competition. Davi emerged victorious, earning him a scholarship to study under Tito Gobbi in Florence, Italy. At the age of 19, he made his debut in the Long Island Opera.
A Different Path

Davi initially pursued a degree in drama at Hofstra University, but dropped out shortly before graduation to work as a waiter due to constant dismissals from various establishments. However, this allowed him to attend Lee Strasberg's acting studio and further his education in the craft.
The Acting Career Begins

In 1978, Davi's acting career began with a lead role in the television film "Contract on Cherry Street," alongside Frank Sinatra. After the completion of the project, Davi decided to stay in Los Angeles and started landing small roles, often portraying villains. By the 1990s, he had appeared in notable films such as "Die Hard," "Predator 2," "Son of the Pink Panther," "Wild Orchid 2," "Christopher Columbus: The Discovery," and "Striptease." He was also set to play a villain in the upcoming James Bond film "License to Kill" with Timothy Dalton.
