Guatemalan Cardinal
Guatemalan cardinal Rodríquez Quezada held numerous ecclesiastical appointments throughout his career.
Early Ecclesiastical Positions
On April 5, 1972, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Gaudiaba and Auxiliary Bishop of Sacapulas. Three years later, on September 11, 1975, he became Coadjutor with the right of succession for the Diocese of Sacapulas.
Bishop of Sacapulas
On February 16, 1980, Quezada ascended to the position of Bishop of Sacapulas, a post he held until June 19, 2001. Concurrently, from June 24, 1986, he served as Prelate of Santo Cristo de Esquipulas.
Archbishop of Guatemala
On June 19, 2001, Quezada was appointed Archbishop of Guatemala, a position he held until October 2, 2010. During his tenure as Archbishop, he also served as President of the Episcopal Conference of Guatemala from 1988 to 1992 and again from January 31, 2004, to 2006.
Cardinal Appointment
On October 21, 2003, Quezada was elevated to the rank of Cardinal-Priest, with the titular church of S. Saturnino.
