Heartbroken Bride Spends Over £10,000 on Cancelled Wedding

A devastated bride spent £10,000 (over £800,000) on a lavish wedding ceremony before discovering it would never happen. Roseanna Thomas, a 25-year-old mother of two from Wales, received a distressing call from a concerned photographer just four days before her wedding, alerting her that their services had not been paid for.

The 'Fairy Tale Prince'

Her "fairy tale prince," Gavin Hall, a 35-year-old employee of British Gas, had never booked a wedding venue or photographer but had assured his bride that he had spent £7,000 (over £560,000) on preparations. An unsuspecting Thomas had spent £10,000 on dresses for herself and her bridesmaids, flowers, decorations, and even allowed relatives to take out loans to assist with her expenses.

A Whirlwind Romance and a Baby

Thomas and Hall met on Tinder in September of the previous year and fell head over heels in love before Thomas found herself falling "out of the love carousel." However, during their relationship, she gave birth to their daughter, Daisy Eve, who is just three weeks old.

Broken Promises and a Forged Bank Statement

Upon learning of the pregnancy, Gavin promised to buy Thomas a house and give her the wedding of her dreams. "I was over the moon," she recalled. "I thought it was love at first sight. Gavin treated me well at first."

"I thought I'd been through all I had been through to find The One." After the photographer's phone call, Thomas confronted her prospective husband, who presented her with a forged bank statement for £7,000. He then spun a tale about a delayed transfer, but his unruffled demeanor raised her mother's suspicions.

A Confession and a Nightmare Revealed

"Mothers just know," Thomas said. "When you've lost £7,000, you don't have the calmness that he had." After consulting with her mother, Thomas questioned her fiancé further, escalating into an argument. He feigned concern, even making a phone call to one of his own numbers, demanding to know where his money had gone.

Thomas confronted her "prince," who finally admitted that there was no money or booked venue. "I was absolutely devastated," she recalled. "I had family coming from Lincoln and Norfolk, miles and miles away."

"If I'd asked for a house and a wedding, I could have understood, but I didn't. This was all him." Thomas added, "He could have stopped this at any point and just said, 'I've got no money, there's no wedding.' It would have been easy. I wouldn't have a wedding dress hanging on my door now."

Desperation and Betrayal

The former bride is now trying to sell her dress, bridesmaid dresses, and other wedding accessories online to recoup some of the costs. She alleges that Gavin, once her dream suitor, had convinced her that he had bought her a house that year, changing the move-in date three times. Thomas now believes there was no house.

To make matters worse, Gavin convinced Thomas to quit her retail job when she became pregnant, claiming he had been promoted and could support the family on his own. "I hate him so much," Thomas confessed. "This has been the biggest life lesson. I'll never be able to trust anyone again. I'll question everything."

"I'm trying to stay positive though. My credit rating's ruined, but I can fix it eventually. I can get the loan and keep a roof over my little girl's head." "Gavin knew there was no wedding, but he let my family take out loans anyway."

"My baby is three weeks old and I'm trying to get a job so that my family has a roof over their head." Media outlets have attempted to contact Gavin Hall for comment, but he has declined to provide any.
