Biography of Rose Siggins
The Early YearsRose Siggins was born with a rare spinal condition called hypoplasia, which resulted in the underdevelopment of her legs. At the age of two, Rose underwent a difficult decision made by her parents to amputate her legs from the hip joint, leaving her with only the upper half of her body. Despite this challenging start to life, Rose grew up as a cheerful and intelligent girl, quickly learning to walk on her hands.

Discovering Skateboarding
While prosthetic legs were later provided to Rose, she found them uncomfortable and heavy. Instead, she discovered skateboarding and quickly became adept at using it as her primary mode of transportation. Rose's determination and refusal to conform to societal expectations were evident during her school years when she insisted on not wearing prosthetics, despite pressure from teachers.

Passion for Mechanics
During her teenage years, Rose developed a deep passion for mechanics and automotive engineering. The garage became her sanctuary, surrounded by spare parts and various mechanical devices. It was in a parts store where she met Dave Siggins, a salesman who shared her enthusiasm for machinery. Their friendship developed into a relationship, and they eventually got married in 1997.

Motherhood and Overcoming Challenges
Contrary to societal expectations, Rose became pregnant and gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Luke in 1998. Despite facing the physical challenges of pregnancy and childbirth, Rose's determination and love for her child shone through. She even requested that, in the event of any complications during her caesarean section, her baby's life would take priority over her own. Luke was born healthy, bringing immense joy to Rose.
Six years later, Rose gave birth to her second child, a daughter named Shelby. The second pregnancy was more arduous, and Rose struggled with postpartum depression. However, the memory of her late mother inspired her to push through and continue living life to the fullest.
Inspiring Others
As Luke and Shelby grew older, Rose realized that her condition may affect their social lives. In an effort to prepare them for the challenges they might face, Rose openly shared her story with their friends, encouraging understanding and acceptance. Not only did this create a supportive network for her children, but it also earned Rose a reputation as a resilient and cool individual, admired for her skateboarding skills.
Rose's Fighting Spirit
Throughout her life, Rose has faced constant stares and judgement from others due to her physical limitations. However, she remains undeterred and continues to fight for her right to live life on her own terms. Rose firmly believes that skateboarding is the most comfortable mode of transportation for her and sees no need to conform to societal expectations. Her determination and resilience make her a true inspiration to all.
