Early Career
Filipe Albuquerque is a Portuguese racing driver who began his career in karting in 1990. He made his debut in single-seaters in 1993, competing in the British Formula Ford Championship where he finished in 4th place.
Formula Racing
In 1994, Albuquerque moved to the British Formula Renault Championship and finished as runner-up. He also competed in the German Formula 3 Championship that year, finishing 28th overall.
Over the next three years, Albuquerque continued to race in the German Formula 3 Championship, improving his results each year to finish 8th in 1995 and 6th in 1996. In 1997, he stepped up to the Formula 3000 Championship and finished 10th overall.
Endurance Racing
After a brief stint in Formula Nissan in 1999 and 2000, Albuquerque switched to endurance racing in 2001. He competed in the Eurocup Renault Clio and went on to finish 6th overall.
In 2006, Albuquerque entered the FIA GT Championship and finished 2nd in the GT2 class. He also competed in the American Le Mans Series, finishing 42nd in the GT2 class in 2007.
LMP2 Success
Albuquerque's most notable achievement came in 2015, when he won the LMGTE Am class in the World Endurance Championship. He has continued to compete in the championship and has won the class again in 2016 and 2017.
In addition to his endurance racing success, Albuquerque has also competed in the European Le Mans Series and the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. He has won multiple races in both series.
