Early Life and EducationJuliano Mer Khamis was born in Mozambique to Brazilian parents. His childhood was marked by relocation to Portugal, where he later pursued his education at the prestigious Femis Film School in Paris.

Khamis began his cinematic journey as an assistant director, eventually relocating to Brazil. During the 1980s, he traveled to Mozambique and Mexico to further hone his skills.
