Biography of Ryan Sharp

Ryan Sharp is a professional racing driver who achieved great success in various racing championships throughout his career. He began his racing journey in karting, where he won several local and national championships, catching the attention of Dutch businessman Klaas Zwart.

Early Career

Zwart became his sponsor for his first season in Formula Ford, a series that lacked aerodynamic elements unlike Formula Renault. Despite limited funding, Sharp showed great progress and moved up to Formula Renault in 2002. Representing John Village Automotive in the British series, he finished sixth in the championship despite constant car issues.

Champion of Formula Renault

In 2003, Sharp took a risky career move by switching to the German series with Jenzer Motorsport. This move paid off as he became the champion of the season. Notably, future Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton also participated in one of the races, but Sharp emerged victorious in both races while Hamilton finished ninth and eighth respectively.

GP2 and World Series by Renault

Sharp transitioned to a new series, GP2, in 2005, joining David Price Racing. However, he faced numerous challenges and struggled to perform due to the team's less-than-ideal engineers and staff. As a result, he left the GP2 series and returned to Jenzer Motorsport for the World Series by Renault, but faced similar issues with an uncompetitive car.

World Touring Car Championship

In 2006, Sharp signed a contract with JAS Motorsport in Italy to compete in the World Touring Car Championship. He was named the Rookie of the Year in the Yokohama Independent Trophy and achieved several victories in his class. One of his most memorable wins was in Brands Hatch, UK, where he showcased his skill in wet conditions.

FIA GT Championship

In 2007, Sharp made another career move, this time to the FIA GT Championship with JetAlliance Racing. The team had already achieved success in their second season of competition. Sharp began the season with a ninth-place finish in Zhuhai, China.

Throughout his career, Ryan Sharp demonstrated his talent and determination, overcoming financial obstacles and challenging car conditions. His achievements in various racing championships showcased his skill and passion for motorsports.
