Biography of Sabir Aliyev

Sabir Aliyev was an Azerbaijani doctor, forensic expert, and poet. He was born on June 27, 1928, in Shusha, the cradle of Azerbaijani culture. Aliyev completed his education at a local music school in his hometown. At the age of 17, he moved to Baku and enrolled in the Azerbaijan Medical Institute, specializing in forensic medicine.

After graduating from the institute, Aliyev was assigned to work in Agdam. He then held positions in Fizuli, Zhdanov (Beylagan), Agjabedi, Sumgayit, Saray, Shusha, Kubatly, and Lachin. He served as the head of the healthcare department in the city of Shusha.

During his time in Beylagan, Aliyev was appointed as a forensic expert in the case of the tragic death of the renowned Azerbaijani cotton mechanic Sevil Gazieva. On June 2, 1977, despite being seriously ill and hospitalized in Shusha, Aliyev was awarded the honorary title of "Distinguished Healthcare Professional" for his contributions to the field of national healthcare. He received numerous commendations and awards throughout his career.

Sadly, Aliyev passed away on July 27, 1977, at the city hospital in Shusha, exactly one month after celebrating his 50th birthday. Apart from his medical profession, Aliyev also had a passion for poetry and had been writing Azerbaijani poems since his youth. His poetic works were frequently published in local newspapers, literary anthologies, and collections. Some of his poems were included in Abbas Suleymanli's book "My Homeland - Azerbaijan" and the two-volume collection "Songs of Shusha".
