Early Life
Sally Pearson, then known as Sally McLellan, was born in Sydney, Australia. At the age of 8, she moved to Gold Coast with her mother, Anne, who worked multiple jobs to support Sally and her sports activities. It was one of Sally's teachers, Sharon Hannan, who recognized her potential as an athlete when she was still in primary school.
Early Career
In 2001, at the age of 14, Sally won the national under-20 title in the 100 meters, establishing herself as the best young sprinter in Australia. However, she faced several injuries in 2002, which slowed down her progress.
International Success
In 2003, Sally made her international debut at the World Youth Championships in Sherbrooke, Canada, where she won gold in the 100-meter hurdles event. A month later, she represented Australia at the World Championships in Paris, France, as part of the 4x100-meter relay team.
Olympic Triumphs
In 2008, Sally focused solely on the 100-meter hurdles and won the silver medal at the Olympics in Beijing. She continued her success by winning multiple races in 2009, but fell short at the World Championships in Berlin, finishing fifth.
At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, Sally faced a false start in the 100-meter sprint, which disqualified her from the event. However, she rebounded with a gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles.

Sharon Hannan continues to coach Sally Pearson. In 2008, Sally got engaged to Kieran Pearson, whom she had been dating since high school. They got married in April 2010 and spent their honeymoon in Los Angeles and Hawaii.

In 2011, Sally set an impressive record in the 100-meter hurdles at the World Championships in South Korea, ranking it as the fourth-best time in history. She continued her dominance by winning 32 out of 34 races in 2012 and setting a new Olympic record to win the gold medal at the London Olympics.
Late Career
In 2013, Sally won the silver medal at the World Championships. That same year, she achieved an unusual record by being the fastest in the world in the 100-meter race while holding a spoon with an egg in her hand. Her time of 16.59 seconds improved the previous record by nearly 3 seconds.
