Sammo Hung Kam-bo, known professionally as Sammo Hung, is a renowned actor, producer, director, screenwriter, fight choreographer, and stuntman in the Hong Kong film industry. He was born with a few strands of hair on his head, which led to his nickname "Sammo," meaning "three hairs" in Chinese. Standing at 168 cm tall and weighing 99 kg, Sammo received his education at the Beijing Opera School.

Sammo began his training at the Yu Jim Yuen School of Beijing Opera, where all the students were given short names. He was named Yuen Lung, which means "Dragon of Yuen." The training at this school was extremely rigorous, with teachers often resorting to physical punishment for mistakes or disobedience. However, many world-renowned Chinese stars, including Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Sammo Hung, and Corey Yuen, emerged from this school. As the oldest student, Sammo was nicknamed "Big Brother." Despite his weight, Sammo was incredibly agile and could perform acrobatic feats such as somersaults effortlessly. He received training in various disciplines, including acrobatics, kung fu, singing, pantomime, and more. The teacher formed a group of the most talented students called the "Seven Lucky Stars," which propelled Sammo's interest in filmmaking.
