Biography of Sarah Chalke
Sarah Cassandra Chalke was born on August 27, 1976, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is the middle child of Douglas and Angie Chalke. Sarah attended a German school in her hometown twice a week and is fluent in English, French, and German. She graduated from Handsworth Secondary School in North Vancouver in 1994.

Sarah's father is a lawyer with a private practice in Vancouver, and her parents also manage an agency that places foreign orphans, mainly from China, in Canadian families. Her older sister, Natasha, is a lawyer, and she has a younger sister named Piper. In April 2008, Chalke became a U.S. citizen, and she is engaged to Jamie Afifi.

Early Acting Career
Sarah began her acting career at the age of eight, participating in musical theater productions. At 12, she became a reporter on the Canadian children's show "KidZone." In 1993, Sarah landed the role of Becky (Conner) Healy on the TV series "Roseanne" from Lecy Goranson. She also played another minor role in an episode of "Roseanne" titled "Halloween: The Final Chapter" (Episode 178, first aired on October 31, 1995).
Sarah returned to Canada and became one of the stars of the CBC film and drama series "Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy" (1998-1999), for which she received a Gemini Award nomination.
Rise to Fame
In 2001, Sarah joined the cast of the comedy series "Scrubs" as Dr. Elliot Reid. She appeared in several films, including comedies such as "Ernest Goes to School" and "Cake," as well as in several episodes of the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother." Sarah also appeared in "The 'Bu" on Channel 101 with the filmmaking group "The Lonely Island," a parody of the hit show "The O.C.," where she was credited as "Pamela Fenton."
In 2007, she played a supporting character in the comedy film "Chaos Theory" alongside the film's star, Ryan Reynolds. In 2008, Chalke became a representative for the women's underwear line by Hanes, appearing in advertisements directed by another "Scrubs" star, Zach Braff.
Sarah has been an advocate for breast cancer awareness since losing her aunt and grandmother to the disease. She starred in the biopic "With Lipstick on Her Collar," a story about a young woman determined to challenge her terrifying illness, namely breast cancer.
Philanthropy and Personal Life
Chalke is a representative of the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund and voluntarily works at a hospice for terminally ill children. She continues to split her time between California and British Columbia. Sarah enjoys outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, and skiing (she is a ski instructor). She also has a passion for cooking Asian cuisine and is a vegetarian.
