The First Movie: "Terminator" 1984

In the first film, set in 1984, Sarah Connor is a 19-year-old Los Angeles student working as a waitress. She realizes her life is in danger when she learns about women with the same name as her being killed. The ruthless killer is a cyborg assassin known as the Terminator, model 101. Sarah is saved from certain death by Kyle Reese, a soldier from the future who informs her about Skynet, a self-aware supercomputer that will launch a program to annihilate humanity. Their time together leads to their romantic involvement, and Sarah becomes pregnant with their son, John Connor.

In the sequel, set nine years later, Sarah Connor is no longer with her son John, who lives with a foster family. Sarah is institutionalized in a psychiatric hospital after attempting to blow up a computer factory linked to the creation of Skynet. She tries repeatedly to escape and is labeled paranoid by the doctors. In the hospital, Sarah encounters two different Terminators: the familiar T-800 and a new liquid metal T-1000. A reprogrammed T-800, sent by John from the future, protects young John from the T-1000. Initially hostile towards the T-800, Sarah eventually realizes the Terminator's value as a protector for her son.
