Biography of Saveliy Libkin

Saveliy Ilyich Libkin, a well-known Ukrainian restaurateur, was born in Odessa in 1961. He completed his education at the Odessa Culinary School, specializing in cooking, in 1979. He then pursued further studies at the College of Public Catering from 1984 to 1988, obtaining a degree in Technology of Public Catering through distance learning. Throughout his career, Saveliy Libkin has had a passion for the culinary arts and has worked in various cafes and restaurants, including as a butcher.

Founding "Drive-In" and the "Pan-Pizza" Concept

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Saveliy Libkin transformed the canteen he managed into a separate project, serving as the prototype for the "Pan-Pizza" cafe. In 1993, he founded the company "Drive-In" and launched the first project under the same name, selling pizza from cars. Building on this success, in 1995, Libkin opened the "Pan-Pizza" cafe, followed by the establishments "Steakhouse" and "Greenwich Cafe".

The Birth of Conceptual Restaurants

In 1998, Saveliy Libkin introduced his first conceptual restaurant, the "Steakhouse", in Odessa. Later that same year, he also opened the "Greenwich Cafe". These establishments offered unique dining experiences, combining exquisite cuisine with an inviting atmosphere.

Creating "Cafe La Veranda" in Prague

In 2001, Saveliy Libkin established the renowned "Cafe La Veranda" in Prague. This restaurant was built upon the foundation of serving food prepared with ingredients sourced from small local farms in environmentally clean regions of the Czech Republic. In recognition of its exceptional quality, the Prague restaurant earned a mention in the Michelin Guide in 2007.
