In 2013, Tomita began competing in FIS tournaments within Japan. At her first national championship at age 13, she placed an impressive 7th in halfpipe. The following year, she repeated her halfpipe performance and secured a bronze medal in slopestyle. In 2015, she placed third in national halfpipe for the second time.
