The Early Life of Serge Avedikian
Serge Avedikian, a French film director, actor, producer, and screenwriter of Armenian descent, was born on December 1, 1955 in Yerevan, Armenia. His parents, born in France to survivors of the Armenian Genocide, had repatriated to Soviet Armenia in 1947 under the influence of Stalinist propaganda and Maurice Thorez. Serge attended a French school in Yerevan and developed a passion for the arts at an early age.
Returning to France
At the age of 15, Avedikian's family decided to return to France. After completing his studies at the Conservatoire Dramatique d'Art de Meudon, he arrived in Paris in 1971 and began working with students at the prestigious Conservatoire de Paris.
A Career in Theatre and Film
In 1976, Avedikian formed a theater company with a group of like-minded individuals. He staged several theatrical productions while simultaneously pursuing a career in film. In 1988, he established his own film studio, continuing his prolific creative output.
