Early Life and Education
Jordi Belbel i Matutano was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. He pursued his academic interests at the University of Barcelona, where he studied romance philology.
Literary Debut and Playwriting Success
Belbel's literary career took flight with his debut play, "Calidoscopi i fars del dia present" (1986), which earned him the prestigious "Premio Marqués de Bradomín." His subsequent plays garnered critical acclaim both in Catalonia and internationally.
Theatrical Direction
In addition to his playwriting accomplishments, Belbel has also established himself as a renowned theatre director. Since 1988, he has taught at the Theatre Institute of Barcelona.
