Biography of Shuai Zhang

Shuai Zhang is a professional Chinese tennis player. She stands at a height of 176 cm and weighs 65 kg. She is right-handed and has a two-handed backhand. Her coach is Fu Zhong. Zhang has won 21 ITF tournaments, including 14 in singles.

Early Life and Family

Shuai Zhang was born on January 21, 1989, in Tianjin, China. Her parents, Zhang Jizheng and Wang Fengjun, were both professional athletes. Her father was a football player, while her mother played basketball. Currently, both of her parents work for a transportation company.

Zhang started playing tennis at the age of 6, accompanied by her parents. At the age of 12, she joined the national sports association's tennis program and has been a part of it ever since.

Tennis Career

Zhang's favorite playing surface is hard court. She looks up to tennis legends Monica Seles and Andre Agassi. Zhang gained attention in 2009 during the China Open when she reached the third round as the 226th ranked player in the world. Along the way, she defeated the then-world number one, Dinara Safina.

In addition to her achievements on the ITF circuit, Zhang has represented China in various international competitions. She was a part of the winning team in the team tournament at the 2010 Asian Games.
