Sky Ferreira was born on July 8, 1992, in Los Angeles, California. She developed a passion for music from a young age, likely influenced by her grandmother's connection to Michael Jackson. Despite this, Sky chose to forge her own career path. Year after year, she shared her tracks, creations, and self-recorded songs until she caught the attention of Swedish producers Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, known as "Bloodshy & Avant." They were captivated by Sky's voice and style and immediately decided to work with her.
However, her professional career did not start with music but with modeling. Within a few months, Sky appeared in top magazines such as "Dazed & Confused," "Interview," "Purple," and graced the cover of popular publication "Jalouse." Simultaneously, Sky worked in the studio with the two Swedish producers and other musicians, recording the material she had been working on. Soon, three songs from the album – "17," "One," and "Obsession" – were released as singles, and the debut mini-album was scheduled for January 11, 2011. Shortly before the release of her debut album, police stopped the car in which Sky Ferreira and Zachary Smith, the vocalist and frontman of popular band "DIIV," were sitting. Not only were both heavily intoxicated and resisted arrest, but drugs – heroin and ecstasy – were also found in their car. Just a few hours later, the story ended happily: after the police contacted their families, they were released on bail of $1,500. A few days later, Sky performed in New York, and a couple of weeks later, she released the album "Night Time, My Time" as if nothing had happened. The album cover, designed by renowned director and photographer Gaspar Noé, caused some embarrassment. On the cover, the 21-year-old artist appeared semi-naked in the shower. The album, partly due to Sky's legal troubles, caused quite a stir. After its release, it received positive reviews from critics, but Sky did not receive any particular attention. Most critics agreed that her new work was noticeably different from her earlier music but still praised it as "mostly pleasant."
