Early Life and Formation of Sum 41

Born in Ajax, Ontario to Polish-origin parents, Stephen Jozwiak, known as Steve Jocz or simply Steve, was the youngest member of the popular punk rock band Sum 41. Around 1993, he met Derek Whibley, who would later become Sum 41's lead vocalist. Together, they formed the core of the band, which eventually merged from two rival school groups.

Sum 41 Career

Despite being the youngest member, Steve quickly established himself as the band's most outspoken and mischievous personality. Alongside his primary role as the drummer, he also contributed with keyboards, vocals, and rap in several songs. Additionally, he played drums for Dave Baksh's side project, The Operation M.D.

Departure from Sum 41

On April 17, 2013, Steve announced his departure from Sum 41 on the band's official Facebook page. This marked a significant shift in the group's history, as he had been an integral member since its inception.

Musical Influences and Equipment

Steve's drumming style is heavily influenced by renowned drummers Dave Grohl and Keith Moon. He uses Vic Firth drumsticks, Zildjian cymbals, Remo drumheads, and Drum Workshop drums and hardware.

Education and Personal Life

Steve attended school in Ajax, Ontario, and was on the swimming team in high school alongside Sum 41 members Jason McCaslin and Derek Whibley. He is known for his love of motorcycles. Steve has an older sister named Jen.
