Early Life and FamilyStewart Copeland was born on July 16, 1952, in Alexandria, Virginia, the youngest child of Miles Copeland, a CIA officer, and an esteemed British intelligence analyst. A few months after his birth, the family relocated to Cairo, Egypt, where Copeland spent his early years. In 1957, the family moved again, this time to Beirut, Lebanon, where he attended a local school and began taking drum lessons at age 12.
Musical Journey
Coincidentally, from 1967 to 1969, Copeland resided in England, and upon his family's return to the United States, he enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley. However, in 1975, Copeland decided to move back to England, where he joined the progressive rock band Curved Air. In 1982, he married Curved Air vocalist Sonja Kristina, and they had three sons: Sven, Jordan, and Scott, who all pursued careers in music or entertainment.
The Police

The band rose to international stardom, releasing hit singles such as "Don't Care," "Too Kool To Kalypso," "Away From Home," "Rich In A Ditch," "Synchronicity II," and "King of Pain." Their albums, including "Outlandos d'Amour," "Reggatta de Blanc," "Zenyattà Mondatta," "Ghost in the Machine," and "Synchronicity," continue to inspire and influence musicians worldwide.
Film Scoring and Solo Career
After The Police disbanded in 1986, Copeland embarked on a successful career as a film composer, scoring numerous movies, and working with directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Oliver Stone, and Spike Lee. He also pursued solo projects, releasing several albums that showcased his eclectic musical style, which encompasses reggae, rock, and jazz.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Copeland is an avid sportsman who enjoys rollerblading, cycling, and playing polo.
