2017: The Genesis of Stray KidsOn August 4, 2017, JYP Entertainment announced their plans for a new reality show that would form a male group, similar to the successful "Sixteen" show that created TWICE in 2015. The show, titled "Stray Kids," premiered on October 17th, showcasing the members as they underwent evaluations.
2018: Debut, Mixtape, I Am Not, I Am Who, and I Am You
Alongside the launch of their official website, JYP Entertainment announced the release of Stray Kids' pre-debut mixtape album, featuring seven tracks co-written by the members. The mixtape debuted at number 2 on the Gaon Album Chart and Billboard World Albums Chart.
On March 25, 2018, Stray Kids officially debuted with the mini-album "I Am Not" and the title track "District 9." The debut showcase attracted a record-breaking crowd and the music video garnered over 4 million views in 24 hours.
2019: Unveil World Tour, Clè Trilogy, and Woojin's Departure
Stray Kids embarked on their first world tour, "Unveil Tour 'I Am...'," and released their fourth mini-album, "Clè 1: Miroh," in March 2019. The album earned their first music show win on M!Countdown.
In June, they released their first special album, "Clè 2: Yellow Wood," and embarked on the American and European leg of their tour. However, on October 28, JYP announced Woojin's departure from the group due to personal reasons.
2020: Japanese Debut, 神's Menu, and All In
Stray Kids made their official Japanese debut in March 2020 with the compilation album "SKZ2020," featuring Japanese versions of previously released tracks. They also released their first Korean studio album, "Go Live," in June, with the title track "God's Menu."
In November, they released their first Japanese mini-album, "All In," and held their first online concert, "Unlock: Go Live In Life," as a continuation of their postponed "District 9: Unlock" tour.
2021: Kingdom: Legendary War and Global Recognition
Stray Kids participated in Mnet's competition show "Kingdom: Legendary War," showcasing their musical versatility and earning critical acclaim. They also held their first official fan meeting in February and released a collaboration with Swedish producer Alesso and Chinese DJ Corsak titled "Going Dumb."
