She married Elkan Abramowitz, a lawyer. From 1968 to 1970, she took a break from work to take care of her newborn son Andrew. Three years later, in 1973, she gave birth to her daughter Elizabeth. During this time, she worked as a freelance writer, writing magazine articles and political pieces. She currently resides with her husband in Long Island.
