Biography of Tagui Akopyan (Asmik)

Tagui Stepanosovna Akopyan (Asmik) was an Armenian Soviet actress and People's Artist of the Armenian SSR. She was born in Nakhichevan and passed away in Yerevan. From a young age, she performed in various theater troupes in her homeland and in Tiflis. In 1906, she was invited to join the Armenian Dramatic Society in Tiflis. Starting from 1920, she worked in Armenia. She led the troupe of the People's Theater in Dilijan and, from 1921, she became the leading actress at the G. Sundukyan Theater. She played numerous classical roles in both theater and cinema.
