Tanishq Abraham: Youngest American College Graduate
Extraordinary Academic JourneyTanishq Abraham, an 11-year-old American, made history in 2015 by becoming the youngest graduate of American River College in Sacramento, and possibly the youngest ever in the institution's 60-year history. "It's not a big deal for me," said Tanishq. College spokesperson Scott Crowe noted, "It is highly likely that no one has ever been younger than Tanishq, but we don't have documentation on all past graduates. But there's no question he is the youngest this year."

Graduation Day Triumph
Abraham took to the stage in a cap and gown adorned with a rainbow scarf knitted by his 82-year-old grandmother. His cap proudly bore the iconic "Toy Story" mantra, "To Infinity and Beyond." The gifted boy earned three of the four possible associate degrees from the Sacramento college, studying mathematics, natural sciences, and foreign languages.

Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Opportunities
Despite the initial intimidation of being surrounded by students twice his age and size, Abraham persevered. "They were kind of scary," he said. However, many students "were happy to have a kid around." His parents remained composed, unsurprised by his achievements. "He was years ahead in kindergarten, so he just skipped it," explained Tanishq's mother, Taji Abraham.

Childhood Prodigy
Tanishq became a news sensation the previous year when he graduated high school at the age of 10—eight years earlier than most Americans. He was homeschooled due to boredom at public school, earning a 4.0 GPA under the guidance of his mother, a veterinarian with a PhD.

Family Brilliance
Tanishq's father, Biju, is a software engineer who graduated from Cornell University with a perfect math score on the SAT. "My son came out smart," he said. At age four, Tanishq joined Mensa International, a society for people with IQs in the top 2%.
Academic Sister and Ambitious Future
Tanishq's sister, 9-year-old Tiara, also joined Mensa and is currently enrolled at American River College. Tanishq plans to take summer coursework in Calculus II and spend time with his family. As for the long-term, he jokingly mentioned aspirations to become a doctor, a medical researcher, and the President of the United States.
