Early Life
Born on November 14, 1971, into a loving family, the artist enjoyed a happy Soviet childhood. Her fondest memory is the image of a smiling girl munching on potato chips from the iconic packaging. However, her foray into photography began as a result of boredom during a summer camp.
After a brief three-day stint in a photography club, where she was taught the basics of loading film and avoiding shooting against the light, she was dismissed. Despite this setback, she developed a natural aptitude for the art of capturing images.
Education and Career
The artist initially excelled in school but faced difficulties due to her involvement in dissident movements. Fortunately, the political changes of glasnost and perestroika led to her exoneration. She later pursued a degree in petrochemistry at the Institute of Fine Chemical Technology.
Despite her education, she never worked in her field. Instead, she embarked on a diverse career, holding positions at the publishing house "Penaty," Pepsi (financial activities), Independent Press (assistant editor), VimpelCom (marketer), and the ISP provider "Glasnet" (PR manager).
Photography Career
Disillusioned with her career as a yuppie, the artist left the corporate world to become a photojournalist for the website www.rol.ru. She occasionally contributed to magazines and wrote creative content for restaurants and cafes. Additionally, she curated exhibitions for other artists.
Her personal photography projects explore various themes, including the urban environment, surreal dreamscapes, writers, and fashion. She is particularly interested in supporting unknown talented designers and envisions hosting fashion shows in public spaces like Moscow's Patriarch's Ponds.
Photographic Influences
The artist considers renowned filmmakers as her photographic mentors, including Wim Wenders, Andrei Tarkovsky, Federico Fellini, and François Truffaut. She believes that studying their films is an effective way to master photography.
