Biography of Thia Megia
Thia Megia, a young American singer from California, gained recognition when she participated in the tenth season of 'American Idol'. Born on January 30, 1995, in Hayward, California, Thia grew up in a Filipino family. Her parents, Cynthia and Loreto Megia, immigrated to the United States in 1968 and changed their last name from "Mejia" to "Megia".

Early Life and Education
Thia attended Eden Gardens Elementary School until the sixth grade. However, when her family relocated to Mountain House, California, she switched to distance learning at California Virtual Academy. Even at a young age, Thia showcased her vocal talent by winning singing competitions in San Jose and Saratoga. She also had the opportunity to perform the national anthem at games for the 'San Jose Giants' baseball team and the 'Stanford Cardinal' and 'San Francisco 49ers' football teams. At just 13 years old, Thia appeared on television in the program 'Showtime at the Apollo' in 2008.

America's Got Talent and American Idol
Before her journey on 'American Idol', Thia first gained attention for her participation in the fourth season of 'America's Got Talent' in 2009. Although she made it to the quarterfinals, she was eliminated during the selection of the top 40 contestants. In the same year, Thia received an invitation to sing at the 'David Foster and Friends' concert in California. She became the first contestant from 'America's Got Talent' to advance to the later rounds of 'American Idol', where voting is allowed.

Other Endeavors
In February 2010, Thia took part in the filming of the music video 'We Are the World 25 for Haiti (YouTube Edition)', organized by Canadian artist Lisa Lavie to raise funds for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The musicians who participated in the video were collectively recognized as 'Persons of the Week' on the program 'ABC World News with Diane Sawyer' in March of the same year. Thia's first concert took place on March 27, 2010, at the 'Le Petit Trianon Theatre' in San Jose.
After her time on 'American Idol', Thia continued to participate in various shows and concerts alongside other contestants from the competition, including performances in the Philippines. In April 2012, she embarked on an Asian concert tour, where she showcased her talent in Manila, Taipei, Bali, Jakarta, and Kuala Lumpur.
Later Career
In March 2013, Thia auditioned for the third season of the American version of the reality show 'The X Factor'. Throughout her career, she has continued to pursue her passion for music and entertain audiences worldwide with her mesmerizing voice and captivating performances.
